A person does not necessarily need to register for MyUniverse to receive or interact with a shared contact card.

Certain protected sharing features use Firebase Anonymous Authentication.

When anonymous authentication is used, Firebase may create a temporary anonymous authentication account and unique identifier so MyUniverse can securely provide access to protected information.

A temporary anonymous authentication account is not the same as creating a registered MyUniverse account.

6.3 Anonymous Account Cleanup

MyUniverse has configured Firebase automatic anonymous-account cleanup for the applicable authentication system.

Anonymous authentication accounts that remain anonymous become eligible for automatic deletion after they are more than approximately 30 days old.

Deletion timing is controlled through Firebase's applicable cleanup process and may occur after the account reaches eligibility.

If a user chooses to register and the anonymous authentication identity is converted or linked to a permanent authentication method, it is no longer treated as an anonymous account for that automatic-cleanup process.

7. Shared Cards and Temporary Links

Some MyUniverse sharing features use private temporary links.

Unless otherwise stated at the time of sharing, a temporary shared-card link may remain available for up to 7 days after creation.

A link may become unavailable earlier if:

It does not necessarily delete copies previously downloaded, copied, screenshotted, exported, or otherwise independently retained by recipients.

8. vCards and Contact Downloads

MyUniverse may allow a user or recipient to download contact information as a vCard or similar contact file.

Once downloaded to a device, contact manager, address book, CRM, or other service, that copy may be outside MyUniverse's control.

9. Share Back Contact Information

9.1 What Share Back Does

A recipient of a MyUniverse card may be given the option to voluntarily share their own contact information with the person who sent the card.

Depending on the information the recipient chooses to submit, Share Back may collect:

Temporary Share Back records are generally retained by MyUniverse for up to 3 days from submission.

After that period, the record is scheduled for deletion from the active temporary Share Back system.

MyUniverse may retain limited information longer where reasonably necessary for:

9.5 Copies Saved by Users

The person receiving Share Back information may independently save the information into:

10. Artificial Intelligence Processing

MyUniverse provides optional features powered by artificial intelligence ("AI").

MyUniverse does not control all information a user may place in prompts, notes, free-form fields, documents, images, audio, video, or other uploads.

Users should avoid submitting highly sensitive, confidential, proprietary, or third-party information to AI Features unless they are authorized to use that information for the requested purpose and the particular feature is appropriate for that processing.

If you select content containing personal, confidential, proprietary, or third-party information for an AI-powered feature, that information may be transmitted to the applicable AI or media-processing service provider as necessary to perform the requested function.

MyUniverse may restrict certain categories of information from AI processing where appropriate for privacy, security, or legal reasons.

10.11 Material Changes to AI Practices

If MyUniverse materially changes the purpose for which customer information is processed through AI, or begins authorizing customer content to be used for general-purpose model training, we will update our disclosures and provide additional notice or obtain additional consent where required by law.

May be used for text-to-speech, synthetic voice, narration, voiceovers, music generation, audio generation, and related voice or audio-processing features requested by the user.

Stripe
Used for payment processing, subscription billing, transaction management, fraud prevention, and related payment services. Payment and financial information submitted through Stripe is also processed according to Stripe's applicable privacy practices and terms.

Providers may change as MyUniverse evolves.

22. Public, Shared, and Private Content

MyUniverse allows users to choose how certain information and content are made available.

Depending on the feature and settings selected by the user, information may be:

22.1 User-Selected Public Information

When a user affirmatively publishes information or content to a public MyUniverse profile, public contact card, public website, public media gallery, or other public feature, the user directs MyUniverse to make that selected information publicly accessible.

This may include profile information, contact information, images, video, audio, documents, websites, or other content the user chooses to publish.

Public information may be viewed, copied, downloaded, indexed by search engines, cached, shared, embedded, archived, or independently retained by third parties.

Changing information back to private or deleting it from MyUniverse cannot guarantee deletion of copies previously obtained or retained by others.

22.2 Shared or Restricted Content

Content made available through a temporary share link, selected recipient, group, or other restricted feature is not intended to be publicly available.

MyUniverse may use authentication, authorization checks, temporary sharing credentials, Google Cloud Storage V4 signed URLs, Mux signed playback tokens, and similar access controls to limit access to shared or restricted content.

Recipients may still be able to independently download, save, screenshot, record, copy, or forward content they are authorized to access.

22.3 Private Content

Private content is intended for the account owner or other specifically authorized users.

MyUniverse may protect private content using authentication, Firebase security rules, authorization checks, Google Cloud Storage V4 signed URLs, Mux signed playback tokens, and similar technical controls.

22.4 Temporary Signed Access

For private or restricted files stored through Google Cloud Storage, MyUniverse may use Google Cloud Storage V4 signed URLs to provide temporary authorized access to specific files or media.

These URLs are cryptographically signed, limited to the applicable resource and permitted action, and automatically expire after a configured access period.

MyUniverse uses temporary signed URLs to reduce reliance on permanent public file links and limit the duration of temporary access.

For private or restricted video delivered through Mux, MyUniverse may use Mux signed playback tokens or comparable temporary access credentials.

The validity period for these access credentials is determined by MyUniverse's technical configuration and may change as we balance security, functionality, performance, and user experience.

Expiration of a signed URL or playback token does not delete the underlying file. The file remains subject to the user's storage settings, visibility choices, account status, and applicable retention rules.

22.5 Public Delivery

Content that a user intentionally publishes as public may be delivered through public-access mechanisms appropriate for publicly available content and may not require short-lived signed access credentials.

The applicable visibility setting, rather than the presence or absence of a signed URL, determines whether MyUniverse treats content as public, shared/restricted, or private.
